Serena Reyes-Fuentes, Equal Opportunities Officer of the City of Zeitz, provides insights into her...

My name is Serena Rees Fuentes and I was born in Thuringia from Gräfenthal near Pisa or Neuhaus towards Rennweg. My husband is Cuban and we have been married since 1987. We have one daughter and are a bit of a patchwork family, as my husband has two sons from a previous relationship, one of whom lives in Cuba and the other in Argentina. We also have four grandchildren and one foster child who is still at home. Although our family is scattered in Cuba, Argentina and Germany, we try to travel to Cuba every year and meet everyone as soon as the Corona pandemic allows. I am the Equal Opportunities Officer and advise our Lord Mayor on all matters relating to equal opportunities, from job advertisements and job interviews to planning. I am independent of instructions and have the right of veto if women and men are not treated equally. I currently work part-time and receive a partial pension, which I will continue to receive for a year or two.
